All Westbourne, students in Year 5 through to Year 12 are expected to take part in the School’s sporting program. Westbourne is a member of the Co-educational Independent Primary Schools’ Sports Association (CIPSSA) in the Junior School, and the Association of Co-Educational School (ACS) in the Senior School. The School has a proud history of involvement, participation and success in both associations.
Sport is an important part of a student’s life at Westbourne for personal fitness and wellbeing. The students benefit enormously from membership of sporting teams; from training and playing together in pursuit of a common goal, and from participating in a field of endeavour where teamwork rather than individual effort is rewarded.
The sports offered included athletics, Australian football, basketball, cricket, cross country, futsal, hockey, netball, soccer, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball. This list is by no means extensive, and other sports and activities are also offered as part of the inter-house competition and recreational sports program.
