Wellbeing
Wellbeing is our priority
When young people feel safe and supported, they thrive
That’s why our approach to wellbeing is shaped by CARE – a whole-school approach that nurtures each child’s sense of identity and belonging.
CARE stands for Conscious, Action, Resilience, and Engagement.
These four principles underpin everything we do, guiding our efforts to support young people as they grow into strong, kind and thoughtful individuals ready to navigate an ever-changing world.
How it works
CARE from Prep to Year 12
Our CARE program grows with your child. From their very first year to their final exams, students explore what it means to care – in age-appropriate, meaningful ways. The program is built around four themes:
Conscience
Learners explore culture, belonging, empowerment and consent to develop a strong sense of self and respect for others. These discussions build empathy and help young people consider the impact of their choices within their community.
Action
Programs encourage positive learning behaviours and the development of healthy bodies, hearts and minds. Students learn to make choices that support their wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around them.
Resilience
Students build skills in managing risk, navigating challenges and developing digital wellbeing. These opportunities help them grow confidence and adaptability in an ever-changing world.
Engagement
Learning about respectful relationships, meaning and purpose encourages students to engage deeply with themselves and others. They are supported to find their voice and contribute positively to their community.
Support that wraps around every student
Teachers who care
Learners are surrounded by teachers, mentors, Heads of House and psychologists who know them, guide them, and walk alongside them every step of the way.
Stronger relationships
Our restorative justice approach helps our young people learn empathy, take responsibility and repair harm in ways that build trust and community.
Belonging and connection
Belonging to a House gives every student a place to connect, feel supported and build friendships through shared activities and friendly competition.
Supporting students and families to thrive
Wellbeing at Westbourne is lived every day, with expert speakers and facilitators sparking conversations that build empathy, confidence and self-awareness in our students. Through these sessions, young people explore what it means to be kind, capable and courageous in their everyday lives.
For families, our Shaping Learners Series connects parents with leading voices in education and youth development, providing practical strategies and insights for raising young people today. Complementing this, our partnership with SchoolTV offers families evidence-based resources on mental health, online safety and resilience, supporting a whole-community approach to wellbeing.
